Error description

When starting to mill the program shows an error message "Please power on the power amplifier". This message is shown, even if the power amplifiers are already switched on.

Error cause

This error has two causes. Either the CNC remote software is not configured correctly, or an amplifier might be broken.

Solution

Contact the GeBioM mbH support. If the cause of error is a broken amplifier, below is a manual describing how to switch the amplifier on milling machines with a CAN bus.

If your milling machine is using a CAN bus could be seen on the milling computer. Milling machines with a can bus show a smiley at the right corner of the taskbar. You might have to expand the menu with the small arrow to see the smiley.

Before changing the amplifiers make sure to contact our support. Each amplifier has data, which will have to get transfered to the new amplifier.

How the amplifiers can be switched is explained in this short description: XXX

Error description

The warmup phase of the Plustek scanner takes a long time. After a scan is started the scanner tray won't move directly.

Error cause

The Plustek scanners use a fluorescent tube. These tubes age and take longer to reach their maximum light intensity.

Solution

You can configure the scanner to start, even if the the fluorescent tube has not reached the maximum light emission. To do this you will have to change some registry values. This should only be done, of you feel confident.

  • Press the windows key + R and type "regedit" in the dialogue.
  • Navigate to the path: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" -> "Software" -> "Plustek" -> "261u" -> "VxD" -> "VID_07b3&PID_0c20" -> "Add-On
  • There should be a value named "WARMUPTIME". The value represents the seconds, which the scanner will wait for the fluorescent tube.

Error description

It is not possible to use a specific gradation table. Other gradation tables do not have this problem.

Error cause

Probably your gradation table name contains invalid characters. For example it might contain spaces or some special characters.

Solution

Create a new gradation table. Name the gradation table only with letters, numbers and the _ symbol. Afterwards the GP Manager should accept the gradation table.

Error description

It is with one Grading table not possible these to utilise. With other Grading tables steps the problem not on.

Cause of error

Very probably contains the File name the Grading table invalid Sign. To the Example Space at the false Digit or special character.

Troubleshooting

Create a new size table. Name the size table only with Letters, Figures and _. The grading table should then be accepted by the GP Manager.

Error description

It is not possible to scan feet, as a click on Scan side/Scan both has no effect. The scan is not initalised and the scanner does not start.

Or the scanned picture is not shown correctly (black and white) and the foot outline is not recognised.

Cause of error

This error may have different causes. A few of the causes are listet below:

  • Windows is not able to wake the scanner from the energy saving mode. This is the reason why windows is not able to communicate with the scanner.
  • A file needed by the scanner driver is missing or corrupt, or the driver is not installed.
  • The scanner is not correctly connected to the power supply.
  • The settings of the scanner driver are not set correctly.
  • The power supply used with the scanner has the wrong specifications. For example you might be using a power supply from a GP MultiSens pressure measurement system.

Troubleshooting

  1. Make sure the scanner is connected with the computer. Check the cables for any visible damage.
  2. Check, if the power supply is the one delivered with the scanner. Check the connection of the power supply to the scanner.
  3. Is the scanner connected correctly:
    • Turn the scanner off with the switch on the scanner (if possible). If this is not possible unplug the power supply.
    • Unplug the USB cable.
    • Turn the scanner on/replug the power supply.
    • Replug the USB cable.
  4. Start the GP Manager, choose a customer and open the GP foot measurement modules.
  5. Be sure to select the right scan method FussScan (for feet), or TrittScan (for blueprints).
  6. Try again, if your scanner is working. Choose "Scan both" and wait at least 30 seconds for the scanner.
  7. If the scanner did scan an image, but the outline is missing or the image does not look like you expected, read:
  8. In some cases windows changes the name of the scanner. If the scanner is selected by the GP Manager with its name, and the selection dialogue is disabled the scanner won't work. In this case you will have to follow the steps from the "GP Manager for IT professionals" (Configuring a 2D scanner) or contact the GeBioM mbH Support.

General advice

To avoid this error in the future follow the instructions below:

  • Disable "Selective USB energy saving„.
  • Turn off the computer and scanner in the evening. Make sure the scanner is unplugged from the power supply or turned off with the switch on the scanner.

Error description

After the GP Manager starts a message like: "Mfc100.dll not found" is shown.

Cause of error

This file is part of the "Visual Studio redistributable Packs" (vcredis). The most common cause for this message is a missing installation of one Vcredist package.

Another reason is, that the file is deleted. This might have happened by accident or if your computer is infected with a virus.

Troubleshooting

The Vcredist packages are distributed together with the GP Manager. If you have a GP Manager installation the packages should be inside the installation folder.

  • Open the folder where the GP Manager is installed ("How to find the GP Manager installation?„).
  • Open the GpTools Folder.
  • As the packages are not cumulative you will have to make sure each package is installed. Simply run each installation and follow the descriptions during the installation.
    • Vcredist_2008_SP1\vcredist_x86.exe
    • Vcredist_2010\vcredist_x86.exe
    • Vcredist_2013\vcredist_x86.exe
  • Try again to start the GP Manager

If the problem still exists contact the GeBioM mbH Support.

  1. Search for the link you are using to start the GP Manager
  2. Do a right click onto the icon of the link.
  3. In the context menu choose "Open Path"
  4. A windows explorer will open with the path to your GP Manager installation.

Error description

On some computers the installation of the "Visual Studio Redistributable 2015" fails.

Cause of error

In most cases this is due to a missing windows update.

Troubleshooting

Navigate to "Windows Update" and try to install all important security updates from microsoft. If you are not able to install the updates, or cannot update your windows installation follow the steps below.

  1. Download the DLL files here:
    [wpfilebase tag=file id=4914 /]
  2. Put the files into the .\GpSystem folder inside of your GP Manager installation ("How to find the GP Manager installation?„).

Error description

The Plustek scanner takes a long time to warm up. Before a scan, the scanner stands still for a long time before it starts.

Cause of error

The Plustek scanner works with a fluorescent tube. This requires a certain amount of time to reach maximum brightness.

Troubleshooting

You can start the scan without warming up the tube first. To do this, you must change some values in the Windows registry. This should only be done by experienced users.

  • Select Windows key + R and enter in the dialogue "regedit" in.
  • Open the path: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" -> "Software" -> "Plustek" -> "261u" -> "VxD" -> "VID_07b3&PID_0c20" -> "Add-On
  • The one for "WARMUPTIME" indicates the time in seconds that the scanner waits to warm up.

Error message

Avast Antivirus scans the GP Manager during startup and gets stuck. Or Avast Antivirus prevents the GP Manager from starting.

Cause of error

Avast Antivirus is not able to scan the GP Manager or recognise the GP Manager as a threat.

Error handling

Add an exception for the GP Manager. Please note that this exception must be added in two places for Avast. To access the Avast settings, right-click on the Avast icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the taskbar. In the menu, open the Avast user interface and then click on Gear in the top right-hand corner.

  1. Add an exception under Settings -> Exceptions
  2. Add an exception under File protection -> Advanced settings -> Exceptions.

Alternatively, you can also uninstall Avast and use a different virus scanner.

Detailed instructions for all Avast versions can be found in the Avast Forum at http://forum.avadas.de/threads/2222-avast!-4-5-FAQ-Knowledgebase?p=17356&viewfull=1#post17356
