GP-Manager-Na-Dann-Tschüss

Well then, goodbye

Causes of errors

To start, the GP Manager needs access to an SQL database. The database can either be installed on the computer on which the GP Manager is running. In this case, the error message will say: "SQL Server service" and "(local)" (Fig. 1), proceed as described under "The local SQL service is not started" described above. If the error message says SQL Server does not exist and "[DBNETLIB] (Fig. 2) follow the points from "The SQL server cannot be accessed„.

Troubleshooting

The local SQL service is not started

If you have just switched on the computer, it may happen that the GP Manager has already started but the service has not yet started. In this case, wait a few minutes and then try to start the GP Manager again.

If this has not helped, carry out the following steps.

  1. Click Start at the bottom left of the taskbarStart-markiert-Leerer-Desktop-kleinIf you are using Windows 8, move the mouse cursor to the top right-hand corner. Then move the mouse downwards. Click on the magnifying glass and search for Computer.
  2. Right-click on Computer and select "Manage", this requires administrator rights.Start-Computer-verwalten-markiert
  3. Select "Services and applications" -> "Services"Verwalten-Dienste-markiert
  4. Find the SQL Server (GEBIOM) Make sure that the status is "Started" and the start type is "Automatic".Dienste-verwalten-markiert
  5. If this is not the case, you can adjust the properties of the service by double-clicking. The dialogue should look like the one shown below. If the service is not started, click on "Start".SQL-GEBIOM-Eigenschaften-markiert
  6. If the service does not appear here, the SQL Server has probably been uninstalled. Look in the Control Panel under Programs to see whether a version of SQL Server is still installed.
  7. Click Start at the bottom left of the taskbarStart-markiert-Leerer-Desktop-kleinIf you are using Windows 8, move the mouse cursor to the top right-hand corner. Then move the mouse downwards. Click on the magnifying glass and search for "Control Panel".Startmenü-Systemsteuerung-markiert
  8. Select "Uninstall programme"
  9. Make sure that "Microsoft SQL Server 2008" or a later version is installed.SQL-Server-Programm-markiert
  10. Then contact GeBioM Support with this information and have an administrator password for the computer ready so that they can help you further.

The SQL server cannot be accessed

If the error looks like the picture below, then your computer cannot find the SQL server because it has no access to the network, or the server on which the SQL server is located is not switched on.SQL-Fehler-remote-Server-markiert

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Make sure that your computer is connected to the network, check the network cable and, if necessary, your Internet connection.
  3. Check whether the server on which the SQL server is installed is switched on and connected to the network.
  4. If the problem persists, or if you cannot access the server, contact your system administrator and tell them that you have a problem with the network. Your administrator can contact GeBioM Support if necessary.

Error description

Link problem - The drive or network connection to which the "GP Manager SQL 6.5.lnk" link refers is not available. Ensure that the data carrier is inserted correctly or the network resource is available and repeat the process.

Causes of errors

The GpMan.exe cannot be found because there is no connection to the network drive on which the GP Manager is installed, or the GP Manager has been moved.

Troubleshooting

If a new computer has been purchased or drives have been replaced, it is possible that the folder in which the GP Manager is installed has changed. The error message looks like the 1st picture above. In this case, you should first try to find the GP Manager. To do this, proceed as described under "The GP Manager is not found on the computer" described above. If the error looks like Figure 2, follow the points from "The GP Manager cannot be started from a network drive„.

The GP Manager is not found on the computer

You will receive an error message similar to that shown in Figure 1. This means that the path to your GP Manager has changed.

  1. Right-click on the shortcut that you used to start the GP Manager and select "Properties".GP-Manager-Verknüpfung-Kontextmenu-Eigenschaften-markiert
  2. Under Target, look at the name of the path under which you previously started the GP Manager and copy the information (right-click -> Copy).GP-Manager-Verknüpfung-Eigenschaften-Ziel-markiert
  3. Click Start at the bottom left of the taskbarStart-markiert-Leerer-Desktop-kleinIf you are using Windows 8, move the mouse cursor to the top right-hand corner. Then move the mouse downwards. Click on the magnifying glass and search for explorer. Click on "Windows Explorer"

If the search was unsuccessful, carry out the steps from 6. for any other existing drives (in the illustration, the data carrier data exchange Z:).
  8. If the search is successful, a GP Manager installation will be found in the Explorer. Try to start the GP Manager by double-clicking the GpMan.exe file.
  9. When the GP Manager starts, search for your customers in the GP Manager "Project" -> "Determine
  10. If your customers are available, open the Explorer again.
  11. Click on the parent folder (second from the right) in the address bar. In this example "Programmes"
    Pfad-GP-Manager-markiert
  12. Then click in the free area behind Programmes, the field will now change to Text.
  13. Copy the text and execute points 1-2 again. In this example, replace C: with the copied text. Make sure that there is a "\" between the copied text and GpMan.exe.
  14. Try to start the GP Manager as usual. If the GP Manager still does not start, please contact GeBioM Support.

The GP Manager cannot be started from a network drive
If the error looks like the 2nd picture, then your computer cannot find the GpMan.exe because it has no access to the network, or the computer on which the GpMan.exe is located is not switched on.

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Depending on the installation, the GP Manager may require Internet access. In this case, make sure that your Internet connection is working.
  3. Make sure that your computer is connected to the network.
  4. Check whether the server on which the GP Manager is installed is switched on and connected to the network.
  5. If the problem persists, or if you cannot access the server, contact your system administrator and tell them that you have a problem with the network. Your administrator can contact GeBioM Support if necessary.
