8.3 Print bed calibration

Die Print bed calibration dient dazu, den optimalen Abstand zwischen Druckbett und Druckkopf beziehungsweise Extruder einzustellen. Ziel ist es, einen geeigneten „Sweetspot“ zu finden: Das Druckbett darf weder zu nah am Druckkopf noch zu weit davon entfernt sein.

Ist das Druckbett zu nah am Druckkopf positioniert, kann das Filament nicht sauber austreten. Dies kann zu einer Verstopfung des Druckkopfs führen, deren Reinigung mit erheblichem Aufwand verbunden ist. Ist der Abstand hingegen zu groß, wird das Filament nicht ausreichend in die Druckoberfläche beziehungsweise Einlage gedrückt, wodurch die Haftung des Materials zu schwach ausfällt.

Die Kalibrierung stellt somit sicher, dass das extrudierte Material zuverlässig auf der Druckoberfläche haftet, ohne den Materialfluss am Druckkopf zu behindern.

Attention: Before you start this procedure, make sure that the temperature of the print head below 80 oC and the Nozzle is clean (see section 14).

Open the menu Settings, by pressing the settings button (1).        		 
    2    Open the in the menu Print bed calibration (1). Press the Back button (2) to return to the main menu.       
  3  Open the menu Setting the print bed (1).   Warning! When you press (1), the print bed and the print head will move. Make sure that there are no objects or body parts in the print area.
Press the Back button (2) to return to the Settings to return.    		 
  41.  Press the "Reference point" button (2).
The print head moves to the reference point, takes a measurement and then moves the print head and print bed to its „zero“ position. Note: (3) and (4) are calibration points used during maintenance.

2. take a piece of paper (normal printer paper, from a notepad, etc.) and carefully try to push the paper between the print head and the print bed without using too much force.  

3. if it does not fit (distance is too small), use the down arrow (6) to move the print bed downwards until the paper fits in between.   WARNING! Do not apply any force to the print bed by hand during this process.  

4. Jetzt befindet sich das Papier zwischen Druckkopf und Druckfläche. Bewegen Sie das Papier leicht hin und her, während Sie das Druckbett schrittweise mit dem Pfeil nach oben (8) anheben. Jeder Schritt entspricht 0,05 mm.
Beenden Sie diesen Vorgang, sobald Sie spüren, dass sich das Papier nicht mehr reibungslos bewegen lässt, beziehungsweise ein leichter Widerstand entsteht. Dieser Punkt dient als Referenzposition, um den Abstand zwischen Druckkopf und Druckbett anschließend korrekt einzustellen.

5.Bewegen Sie das Druckbett anschließend mit dem Pfeil (6) um 4 Schritte nach unten. Dies entspricht einem Abstand von 0,2 mm zum Druckkopf. Dieser Wert hat sich in der Praxis als guter Ausgangspunkt bewährt. Je nach Drucker kann jedoch auch ein Abstand von 3 Schritten ausreichend oder erforderlich sein. Entscheidend ist, dass der Abstand weder zu gering noch zu groß ist: Das Filament muss zuverlässig auf der Druckoberfläche haften, ohne dass der Druckkopf durch einen zu geringen Abstand verstopft wird. Bitte mit dem Wert von 0,2mm Abstand starten, und dann ggf. bei Bedarf minimal anpassen.

6 Confirm the new removal by clicking OK (9).

Press the cancel button (1) or the back button (5) to cancel the process (no changes are saved).     After this process, carry out a test print (see section 8.2) to confirm that the print bed calibration was successful.
