Why can't Windows 7 embedded find any updates?
Error description
Windows 7 embedded checks for updates, but never finds an update.
Cause of error
This is a Windows error that causes the search for updates to take several hours and yet no updates are found.
Troubleshooting
In order for Windows to find updates, the update KB3102810 can be installed. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Download the update from Microsoft: https://www.microsoft.com/de-DE/download/details.aspx?id=49540
- Stop the Windows Update Server on your computer. To do this, start a command prompt as administrator
- Select Start at the bottom left of the taskbar
- Enter "cmd" without inverted commas.
- Right-click on the programme with the name "Command prompt" and select "Run as administrator„
- Enter the following command "net stop wuauserv" (without inverted commas) and confirm with the Enter key.
- Execute the update and restart the computer.
- Search for Windows Updates. The computer should now be able to install the updates.
